Note from the President

Dear Friends,

It is a tumultuous time right now, and our work to protect and provide clean water at hospitals and assisted living communities has never felt more important. We are honored by the organizations that trust us with this vitally important role, and it's one we fulfill around the clock. If your facility needs support in seasonal preparedness or water management, we are happy to help your team with anything you need to be ready to care for patients, residents and staff.

Lois Elrich, President

Solid Blend Technologies

Coronavirus or Legionnaires’ Disease?

As hospitals around the world take unprecedented steps to shore up their supply chains, train their staffs and prepare their facilities for a surge of coronavirus patients, it’s important to note they must also continue to defend against another silent threat: Legionella.

When NPR spoke to a renowned water engineer in March, here’s what he had to say about the prevalence of Legionella*. The bottom line is you need to be prepared for both threats.

*We strive to provide accurate, timely information. The article from NPR was originally published on March 2, as coronavirus cases began to rise in the U.S. Facts and figures will have changed since publication.

Spring is Here. Your Cooling Tower Needs Service Now.

Don’t let scale, corrosion or Legionella in your chiller and cooling tower system put your facility at risk of equipment inefficiency, failure or a Legionnaire’s outbreak. Ensuring your Water Treatment Program aligns with Association of Water Technologies’ standards, ANSI/ASHRAE 188-2018 Legionella standards and CMS regulations can help. We help keep your chillers and cooling towers operating safely and efficiently for years to come. Make sure you take care of this “spring cleaning” to help prevent equipment deterioration and dangerous upticks in Legionella  especially if your facility is at low-capacity or no-occupancy due to a shelter-in-place mandate.
