Solid Blend Awards Business Development Scholarship

Angela Peterson of Dayton Metro Library to gain valuable leadership and professional development from Aileron and Real Change Business Coaching

Dayton, OH (November 19, 2020) – Solid Blend, the state’s leader in water management and environmental solutions, recently named the first recipient of their business development scholarship. Angela Peterson, facilities manager at Dayton Metro Library, was gifted with a course in Professional Management at Aileron, a local not-for-profit dedicated to helping small businesses chart strategy and success, and six coaching sessions from Real Change Business Coaching.

As a small business who has benefited from attending several Aileron leadership sessions and sees the value in the Aileron DOC model to support the growth of Ohio-based small businesses, Solid Blend identified the scholarship as a real-world investment for others who may benefit from both the courses at Aileron and more in-depth, intentional individual coaching sessions from Real Change.

“Dayton Metro Library has been our client for many years,” said Solid Blend owner and president Lois Elrich. “Angela exhibited a sincerity and eagerness to learn and grow from this opportunity that we couldn’t resist. She fully grasped our vision for this opportunity, and we believe what she learns from this course and coaching will benefit not only her teams, but library patrons as well.”

In addition to serving as Solid Blend’s president, Elrich is also a leadership coach at Aileron, where she searches and onboard leadership coaches, involved with content creation for workshops, facilitates workshops, and one-on-one coaching sessions. She also owns a professional coaching business, Real Change Business Coaching, where she helps people become their best in the workplace and life. Lois will offer the six one-on-one coaching sessions through Real Change.

“I believe the scholarship opportunity will help me grow as a leader within the Dayton Metro Library,” said Peterson. “I hope to come out of this course equipped with the knowledge to develop and implement a strategic plan for my department that aligns with the Library’s overall strategic plan. I also hope to develop long-term planning for my department and strengthen my leadership skills to, in turn, help my staff shine as assets of our organization.”

The course from Aileron features exercises to help participants develop vision and strategy, and tools to put them into action while keeping the team inspired. Key topics include business strategy and structure, people development, creating and improving company culture, organizational performance, and individual leadership development.

In the one-on-one coaching sessions from Real Change, Peterson will work through assignments that help identify and eliminate obstacles, make positive changes, and improve work performance. These sessions will ultimately set the groundwork for Peterson to excel in their/her role and have a larger impact on their/her organization.
